Sorry people for being back logged on my fishing reports,
I’d like to
apologize for not keeping this page up to date. Here at Right
Hook Sport Fishing we are starting fresh, with a more client
oriented website. So expect this page to be updated often.
Along with that I am going to be sending out fishing reports via
email 2-3 times a month so be ready for them. If I don’t have
your email just send me a email and I will add you to the list.
With that all said lets get to the fishing. May-July we saw
slower than usual halibut fishing but we still had some really
good days. We had many fish a rod days with only a handful of
days over 10 fish. One thing I must say it wasn’t for the lack
of action it was just the amount of keeper fish, the shakers
were biting like piranhas!! LOL and are still on the chew. At
the end of July I moved the boat to bodega to fish salmon and
cod but it has been more cod fishing than salmon. I had 2 days
of salmon fishing off of 10 mile to land limits for 6 one day
with 10 fish over 20lbs, 4 over 30lbs and the other 2 were just
shy of 20lbs. and the other day was a fish a rod. The rest of
July- present the rock cod fishing has been great. We have been
landing limits of nice cod (school fish, vermilions, coppers and
Cabazon) and up to 10 lings per trip. Most of the fishing has
been from the Russian river north all the way to Fisk Mill
fishing swim baits and scampi’s. Don’t for get about this up
coming STURGEON season. I will start running trips October 1st
out of Martinez. This years sturgeon season should be another
banner year!! So BOOK NOW!!!! Well here is the first of many
fishing reports to come
8/19- Brought the boat back from bodega to get in on some late
season Halibut fishing. 4 anglers’ boated 4 keepers and well
over 25 shakers fishing the Berkeley flats on the troll. Only
fished a half day.

Well sorry it has taken so long to get this report page up, but its better late
than never. A little recap of the 2006 season: last year was a blast the Right
Hook had a ton going on. We did two TV shows with Allen and warren on the fishing
show Fun Fishing!! That was probably some of the best times of my life. We did a
halibut show down in South San Francisco bay in June and we loaded the boat. We
just spanked the flaties ended the day early with 14 butts in the box all on the
troll. In November we did another show but this one was on sturgeon in Suisun
Bay. This day was just perfect, we were able to land 3 keeper sturgeons to 67in,
3 shakers and a bonus 36lb striper. The fish just bit and bit, may I add they
missed A few!!! J/K Also in the 06 season we had a outstanding halibut Season
landing well over a 100 fish to just over 30lbs.
On the ocean front the salmon season started out with a loud bang and then it
was scratch bite from July on. The rock fishing was just, what can I say WFO!!!
The trips to the islands produced limits of rock fish every trip and half to
full limits of ling cod. Last season we were blessed with calm seas. In august
and September we made 4 tuna runs and the catching just was there. We had 1 trip
out of HMB and we plugged the boat only 20 miles out, I think we ended up with
23 fish. But other than that it was just a scratch bite for everyone. Let’s hope
for warm water this coming season!!!!!
This last Sturgeon 2006-2007 season (October –present) we saw some of the best
sturgeon fishing in a long time!!! The boat had many trips with limits for 4,
many 1-3 fish days. Also adding a few over-sized fish and just a ton of shaker
sturgeon!!! Fished mostly in Suisun bay but had a few trips in the shallows of
San Pablo Bay.
Ok Its now May and its HALIBUT trolling time!!!! There are still good tide days
still open so book now before word is out!!! Rock cod opens June 1st this year
and the fishing is going to be great!! Also don’t forget about the pink meat
people, this salmon season should be good!! I am going to try to up-date the
reports page once a week but bare with me if I am a day or two late.
Thanks,
Capt. Jay Lopes
